Blood in the Bible

Blood in the Bible — Understanding God’s Purpose

Blood is one of the most significant themes woven throughout Scripture, from Genesis to Revelation. It is not just a biological element — it is a symbol of the fallen human condition, a part of our corruptible nature and a temporary means God has used in His redemptive plan. This message explores how blood entered humanity through the fall, why it defiles, how it became part of God’s provision for atonement and why it cannot remain in the body in the Kingdom of God.

1 Corinthians 15:50 tells us that “flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God,” reminding us that blood — which came through the fall — cannot enter the immortal state. Yet the prophets looked forward to a time when God would “cleanse their blood that [He] has not cleansed” (Joel 3:21), showing that God intends not only to forgive sin but to ultimately remove the fallen nature from our very bodies. This is the promise of being made like Jesus, who had the fulness of the Godhead dwelling in Him bodily (Colossians 2:9).
